A friend (I won’t name him, but he’s a reporter and substitute anchor for bTV Bulgarian Television) wrote once in this blog: “I am convinced that some of the best articles will appear in this blog couple of months after the end of the program”.

Flying with myself

I left the residence with my host family and spent pretty much every minute talking to them about the-whole-nine-weeks. At the airport, I minded the extra weight in 'Big Bird' and carefully distributed it in my other bags, so I didn't have to pay 75 dollars (!!!!!). At the gate, I tried, as usual, to connect my iPad to the airport wi-fi and, as usual,  couldn't get a decent connection.

I bought a magazine, and some magic gum. My US phone rang for the last couple of times and I had a very funny chat with Ivan a very sad one withe Ledinha. Then I got into the plane.

Personal Reflections

Personal Reflections

This going to be cheesy, corny, drippy, sugary... No apologies, you have been warned.

Its real name is 'Cloud Gate', but people commonly refer to it as 'The Egg'. It's a beautiful sculpture in the middle of Millenium Park, in Chicago, and on its smooth, silvery, mirror-like surface you can see reflected the sky, the city and... well, you.

I can-t take it all with me, so I started thinking of each visit and I remembered this guy in Minnesota… and what he said.

Conventional Politics

It IS true that the heat was humid and sticky, and that at any moment it rained, skies unleashed lightning, which I can tell you can be easily compared with the much colder Bogotá. To avoid confusion, it might be better to say it this way: the political climate in Charlotte could not have been better.

From A to B

From A to B

It was meant to be titled 'Driving in America', but since it took me so long to write this entry, I have since then found other ways to go from A to B in this country. Hence, the change of title. And even though there will be quite a bunch of airplanes in our schedule, when it comes to enumerating our rides I'll keep my feet to the ground for this time being.

News from Charlotte

News from Charlotte

Well, I haven't been all that active at the blog, so far, BUT I have been writing my, let`s say, head off for my newspaper. I share with you my first post, about the increasingly important role of the latino communityin this election and its pervasive presence in the Democratic National Convention.

I have translated the first paragraph:
