Attorney with more than thirty-five years experience with the United States Department of the Interior and in private practice as a shareholder with the Minneapolis law firm of Leonard, Street and Deinard, specializing in American Indian issues, federal jurisdiction and law enforcement, and public land tenure and management.

Nationally recognized leader in the areas of Indian treaties and treaty rights, Indian tribal government and enrollment, and Indian land and economic development, including tribal gaming issues. Currently a consultant in the areas of Indian economic and casino development. Long-time resident of Minneapolis with extensive community involvement, including serving as a host family for World Press Institute journalists for ten years.

Other areas of community focus include social and international justice, social service and welfare issues, urban Indian issues, arts organizations and participation in arts programs, particularly music and fiber arts, and church based initiatives.

Have raised two foreign-born adopted children, have traveled extensively internationally, and have maintained vacation property for more than thirty years in another country.
