Kate Parry is currently the Readers Representative for the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis.

Before joining the Star Tribune, She was senior editor for politics and education at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. She also served as newsroom training director and writing coach. While in St. Paul, Parry directed several award-winning civic journalism projects for the newspaper. In 2002, the newspaper was honored for that body of work with the James K. Batten Legacy Award for Excellence in Civic Journalism — the top prize in the United States for civic journalism.

Parry also develops regional writers workshops for Knight Ridder Inc. She has been an adjunct faculty member in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota.

Parry has lectured on civic journalism for the American Press Institute, the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, Investigative Reporters & Editors, Macalester College, the World Press Institute and for Tokyo, Waseda and Sophia universities in Japan. She is a graduate of Indiana University.
