Carlos Morales

I live in the city of La Paz, Bolivia, at the center of South America. I´m a journalist and work at La Prensa newspaper as an editor and national coordinator of our news web agency since august 2000.

I´m also a journalism professor at the Catholic University of Bolivia
(UCB) where I teach news writing. I work as a news reporter since 1991 when I started reporting at Télam news agency in Argentina. Then I worked at "Hoy" newspaper at the city of La Plata, in Argentina. I'm specialized in print and investigative journalism.

I had the opportunity to make special reports on traffic of arms; diversion of public funds; political influence of Moon Sect; and other corruption topics that affected bolivian public affairs.

I´m interested in environmental journalism too, which was thereason why, in 2001, I attended to the University of Kalmar, in Sweden.

I´m married with Alejandra Espejo and have two wonderful kids, Mijail Iván (6) and Carlos Jr. (4). I´m looking forward to attend the two week
Transparency Reporting seminar that will be held in June/July in Minneapolis/St. Paul at the University of Minnesota.

I firmly believe in journalism as an powerful instrument to transform modern society and make a better a world for next generations. We live a in a very violent and insane world. Corruption and poverty are killing our countries. That´s why, I think, information and knowledge can help people to encourage those challanges.

I have a B.S. from La Plata's National University in Argentina, where I lived and worked between 1988-2000.
