NEW:
• Poynter Online (http://www.poynter.org) has started a new column on its website devoted to ethics in journalism. The column, Everyday Ethics, tackles issues on ethical decision-making in news rooms as they arise, with reference to specific examples from the media. Recent topics include quoting friends, reporting on sexual orientation, and online news polls. The column is updated several times a week by Poynter faculty member Kelly McBride and her colleagues. Poynter Online is the website of The Poynter Institute.
• To check in on a useful publication for those interested in journalism ethics, check out the newsletter of the Ethics Division of the U.S.-based Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. The newsletter has a lot of membership news, but it also has a few articles in each issue related to ethical issues. For example, there is an interesting article on the intersection of media ethics and politics in a recent issue. The newsletter is especially useful for teachers and trainers.
