Miriam De Paoli

Miriam De Paoli is a Brazilian woman who has lived in Buenos Aires for the past eight years. As a journalist, she was an international correspondent for the US broadcast network CBS, for their emissions in Portuguese. She also worked as a correspondent for the Brazilian radio station Central Brasileira de Noticias (CBN), the newspaper O Dia and the economic magazine Amanhã.

Now days she does economic analysis for the Brazilian magazine Autodata. In 2000 she started to coordinate  — for all Latin America — the projects and programs related with journalism, free press and freedom of expression issues for the US-based Foundation, The Freedom Forum, until they closed their Buenos Aires office in 2002.

Now she coordinates, in Argentina, journalism workshops, free press conferences and debates for several foundations such as Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano, Foro de Periodismo Argentino (FOPEA), The World Press Institute (WPI), International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Fundación PROA. She's also responsible for the course "Journalism Workshop I" for communication students at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The proposal of this course is to show how to apply journalism theory in the newsroom with a view towards the production of top quality journalism.

In 2004, her book about Argentine politics and economy will be published.
