Pedro Enrique Armendares
Pedro Enrique Armendares is Executive Director of the Centro de Periodistas de Investigación, A.C. (CPI), an independent organization affiliated with Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) which works closely with journalists in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
He frequently takes part as an instructor and panelist in journalism workshops and seminars, and he has taught courses on Computer Assisted Journalism, Globalization & Journalism and other topics at the Universidad Iberoamericana (México City) and the postgraduate programs of the Universidad Anahuac (México City) and the University of Miami, among others.
He is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). Before joining CPI he worked as an investigative reporter for the Mexico City daily La Jornada and contributed to other media Mexican and international media. He has worked in televisión and radio, including the Latin American Service of the BBC, and he was trained in Cinematography at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (México City).
He was a full-time researcher and professor in the International Studies Division of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE, México City), and Academic Coordinator at the Mexico City Study Center of the University of California.
He is a member of the Fellow in the Leadership for Environment and Development Program (LEAD International), and he has taken part in different academic and journalistic programs sponsored by the University of California, the Ford Foundation and the Freedom Forum among other institutions.
He holds a BA in History from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico City) and an MA in International Journalism from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles), and he took part in the Ph.D. Program in History of Consciousness at the University of California in Santa Cruz.
